So, do they hinder or do they help?
On the most part I think they help, but on the other hand they also hinder. I just had mine today and I actually came out quite disheartened. Things were said like 'it has been mentioned to me over a period of time' ... so if it was mentioned awhile ago, why not address the issue earlier so that it can be dealt with?????? (Isn't that what managers are meant to do?) There were some good things, but not a heck of a lot, and they only came from one person. The other boss only had negative - always good in a review hey???? The funniest of all (not that it's funny) is that the one that only had negative things is a Christian.
It makes me ponder, as Christians in the workplace, do we try and live out our faith in all situations or just in those which are convenient. We chat with people at work but when it comes to serious meetings, do we still live out in faith or do we shrink back and be an employee/manager of the world ... do I accept what has been said and ask God to continue to refine me or do I go out of my way to ensure that my boss see's that the issue is not a factor b/c of ... Will I live with His grace or my own stubborness???? Does my manager provide the negative with a balance of grace or purely of this world and point out all that is wrong (which is only 1 thing at the moment).
Ah, interesting times I must admit but the upshot of all of this is that I pick up my mailbox key this evening ... woo hoo, here comes the mail! =)
