concern ... current or eternal?

Reading this morning from 1 John 2:15-17: “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” (NIV)

All I could think about when reading this verse is the current situation in China, I mean there are those who still have their family and their possessions then there are those who only have their life; everything and everyone else is gone.

How would I be if a natural disaster occurred and I lost everyone and everything – would I still be holding onto Him knowing that although there is pain, there will be joy and hope by trusting in Him? Do those close to me know that I love them and think of them often or do I just assume they know?
