So this morning I re-learnt the amazing treasure that is found in the Word of God. It doesn’t matter how much we read whether that be a couple of verses or an entire chapter, there is always something that God is talking to us about.
This morning I was reading from Matt 13:44-52 and two verses stood out:
Verse 44: “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought the field.” (NIV)
Verse 52: “Then he added, “Every teacher of religious law who becomes a disciple in the Kingdom of Heaven is like a homeowner who brings from his storeroom new gems of truth as well as old.” (NLT)
I love these verses; v. 44 pretty much represents what God did for us – He gave (sold in relation to the verse) His Son so that we would not have to pay for our sins. We are His treasure and He has done the ultimate by giving up all that He had – his Son!
V. 52 represents what we bring to the table when we spend time with Him and His Word. We may have had knowledge or revelation of a verse before (the old) but then, He will show us something else about the verse for us to apply (new gems).
Seriously, are we blessed or what??!! No matter how many times we open His Word, He will always have something for us to get out of it.
Now off to find some more gems …. =)
