Yes, hard to believe but another weekend has flown by! What has transpired over the weekend … well let me share with you:
Friday night – caught up with beautiful Vonnie and we went and watched Made of Honour. It was actually better than I expected and as romantic as it was, it really reaffirmed to me that this year is so my year with God and it’s up to Him to bring anyone into my life. I’ll just keep doing what He’s calling me to do – and to be honest, my times with God are so awesome that I don’t actually want that time taken away! (Not that it would be if I was in a relationship but you get the drift!)
Saturday – what a day! I was at netball … ALL flippin day! And it was raining no less … I don’t mean just spitting, I mean rain!!!! If ever there was a drowned rat, on Saturday in Balwyn North there were hundreds of us :p. I was stuck out in the rain for SEVEN hours!!! Funnily enough, I even played a game for my open team as they were one short … running in drenched sneakers was not fun and I didn’t even get to warm up … I was that soaked that it made no difference :(. So after netball finally ended … I stopped off at Kmart to buy some new clothes (I had no spares with me!), went to mum’s and had the HOTTEST shower ever! My feet were so white :( but it was ok once I soaked in the heat for ½ an hour =). Then I trotted down to bro’s restaurant and got some da bao mee goreng for Jon. He had a photo shoot for BW 2009 and he was there for the WHOLE day! He didn’t finish till about 10.30 p.m. at night so in actual fact, me being in the rain for 7 hours was nothing compared to the 13 hour shift he had with the different shoots! Although it was cold and I was a little sore afterwards, I really had nothing to complain about :p! After I picked him up, we went back to Jono & Wayne’s place and just hung out for awhile. The awhile bit turned into a few hours and I finally left at 1.30 a.m. … my goodness, so much to do, no time :(
Sunday – a PHENOMENAL day =) =) =). Apart from the fact that I slept in, I still managed to park my car at church, head into the city, buy my chai latte =) =) and arrive back at Dallas Brooks for prayer meet! Prayer meeting was awesome and well, it was a precursor to church … last night’s services went off the dial. Ps Erwin McManus was flippin hilarious but so relevant! Praise & Worship was really amazing … in the first service I was totally in another zone and second service equally as impactful. Ps Erwin talked about ‘The spaces between us’ and how there are three key spaces:
First space – this is where we’re most comfortable at, e.g. with our church family where we all speak the same language and have the same common views
Second space – this is what he referred to as the marketplace, e.g. where we work, study, live! Our everday lives are carried out in the marketplace – how do we live in this space, do we talk the language of everyday people or do we just seek out those who are like us?
Third space – this is where we as Christians can only go when those who don’t know God invite us into their space. We must learn to speak their language so that they can gain an understanding of who God is and how He relates to them.
He spoke from Acts 17:16-34 and how Paul used the poets of the people from Athens rather than quoting from a biblical prophet such as Micah or Isaiah. What stood out to me were verses 24-28:
“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring’.”
During my time with God yesterday morning I just asked Him to really reawaken the dream He had for my life because over time and my stubbornness, I couldn’t even remember what it was. He reminded me during Ps Erwin’s sermon – I am blessed to be created so uniquely and He wants me to use this uniqueness to be His light to those who don’t know Him.
Why do I have such a desire to go to Asia and work for awhile? Why when I see the devastation in China that I totally break down? Only God can answer these questions and more and only He can show me when that will come to pass and how long for; it may be for as short as a few months, or even weeks or it may be for a few years … He will reveal in His time, in His way!
