Weather

Oh good grief. The amount of people who have been whinging about the heat has been amazing.

I mean, all we can do is try to cool ourselves down and do the best we can. I mean have we become so spoilt and self-indulgent to not realise that there are so many people who live in this type of weather on a regular occurrence and usually not of their choosing?

What about those in Africa, the millions of children, families who don't have homes and living in huge communities just trying to survive?

What about those in our own country who have no home and have nowhere to go to cool themselves down?

Have we become too blessed with our air conditioners etc in our homes, businesses, cars to become ungrateful rather than always being thankful?

I haven't been outside for long but when I was, it was ok. Not ideal but it was ok. I am very thankful that the a/c works at home, in the car and at work - so what do I really have to complain about? Not a lot. There are bigger issues in this world that demands our attention and calls us to action.

Yes, I understand that waiting at a train or tram stop in this heat would be EXTREMELY uncomfortable, particularly if you have no idea when your train/tram is coming along but it's really only temporary ... what about making a stand for orphans all over the world who have nothing but the people in the social centre they're currently placed in; what about the women in Africa (and no doubt other parts of the world) where they are being castrated for no reason except that the men they are with want to own them); for the children being sold into child slavery; for those who have lost their jobs and have no idea where they will get the $$ to make the next house repayment; for those who have lost loved ones tragically and unnecessarily through the wrong actions of other (e.g. drink drivers) - surely just some of these things warrant us to take a stand more than how hot it is ...
