Blackbird

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night

Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

So the song has been around for like ... AGES but resurrected by Glee lol.

I then heard it again at Hillsong - and like ... wa-hoo ... it was just beautiful.

The old is new again

And the reason I think it's come to mind today was that I was listening to the song last night as I was trying to go to sleep and after my readings this morning, I had this thought of how some song/movie/activity/place can take us or remind us of something where God has reignited (or ignited) something in our journey.

For me, I will always smile when I hear this song, it reminds me of a couple of things (people & places) and I can do nothing but smile. To be reminded of how blessed I am and how everything is in His control.

In Luke 12:54-58 from the MSG it says "Then he turned to the crowd: "When you see clouds coming in from the west, you say, 'Storm's coming'—and you're right. And when the wind comes out of the south, you say, 'This'll be a hot one'—and you're right. Frauds! You know how to tell a change in the weather, so don't tell me you can't tell a change in the season, the God-season we're in right now.
"You don't have to be a genius to understand these things. Just use your common sense, the kind you'd use if, while being taken to court, you decided to settle up with your accuser on the way, knowing that if the case went to the judge you'd probably go to jail and pay every last penny of the fine. That's the kind of decision I'm asking you to make." ... uh wow!

I LOVE it how it pretty much just says, "... so don't tell me you can't tell a change in the season, the God-season we're in right now." pretty simple right there!

Basically - we can't sleep through the season God has placed us in (although it is highly tempting when going through the season in this Melbourne winter lol), we need to be ALERT and with eyes WIDE-OPEN! No need to reinvent the wheel so I'll let Ps Holly Wagner eloquently state it:

"Some seasons are shorter than others, but each season of life comes with its own responsibilities.

If we are going to successfully navigate through whatever season we are in, we will need to see the relationships we must nurture, the needs we must meet, the decisions we must make, and the opportunities we must take to serve."

How awake are your eyes, mine?

xoxo
